Lodging
From the 1920s to the ‘30s the carriages of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train played a significant role in the golden age of travel.
There are three types of compartments:
The historic cabins, which have an upper and lower berth.
During the day, the bunk beds transform to offer comfortable banquette seating from which to admire the views.
At night, the soft damask sheets and fine blankets contribute to a cozy and relaxing atmosphere in the evening.
Each cabin has a sink with hot and cold water, but it has a toilet. Shared bathrooms are located at the end of each sleeping car.
The Suite Cabins can be with two single beds or a double bed.
The beds convert into a seating area during the day.
They also have a private en-suite marble bathroom with a mosaic floor that includes a shower, sink and toilet.
The Grand Suites have a bedroom with a double bed or two single beds, a living room with space for private dining, and a sofa that can be converted into an additional bed at night.
They also have a private marble en-suite bathroom that includes a shower, sink and toilet, plus personalized toiletries and free bathrobes.
The famous 24-hour stateroom service is complemented by complimentary champagne in your suite.
In addition to the cabins, in the center of the train, there is the elegant Bar Car, decorated in Art Nouveau style, which creates a wonderful atmosphere to relax while enjoying cocktails or coffee after dinner. It is the right place to chat with other elegant travelers or enjoy live music by the pianist.
In the Restaurant Car you will discover that eating on board the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is an unforgettable pleasure. All dishes are prepared on the train by qualified French chefs, with the best ingredients brought on board during the journey. There are three dining cars, from the 1920s, that have been rehabilitated with great attention to detail and are each decorated in a different style.
The Côte d’Azur is decorated with original Lalique stained glass, the Etoile du Nord displays beautiful marquetry and the L'Oriental features black lacquer panel decoration.
There you can taste lunch, dinner and brunch: Cote d'Azur, Etoile du Nord or L'Oriental. However, breakfast and afternoon tea will be served in the comfort of your cabin.
Another place to relax is the Lalique carriage. This is divided into several sections, one of which is the champagne bar. The other section is where you will find a wide variety of board games. Both sections allow you to contemplate the fantastic landscapes while enjoying a glass of champagne.
And finally, there is the Boutique, which is located in the back of the Lalique car. What better way to remember this memorable trip than to enjoy a gift from the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express collection? Here you'll find train-inspired home accessories, such as a nouveau brass and French glass table lamp. Also other accessories of pure luxury; silk, cashmere and velvet, classic objects for both ladies and gentlemen.
